It was nice to see my grandpa. He seems better and less depressed about going to Dove, though he still gets confused. He knew who I was when I walked in, but during the conversation he kept thinking that I lived in Green Bay at some point. (He did that last time too, oh well.) Still, it was good to see him. He always squeezes my hand and goes, "You're a dear, dear girl." Which makes me feel happy.
We took a desk, a table, a few chairs, and a dresser back with us to Appleton in addition to a load of books and some other knick-knacks and office supplies he doesn't need anymore.
My grandpa had a bunch of random sculptures too, so I took this four inch tall statue of this woman who is hold a snake in either hand and has her breasts exposed. Before you think I'm some kind of pervert, it's actually a cast of this fertility symbol I remember learning about in art history back in high school. It's from the islands around Greece before Greece really rose to power. So that's cool.
It was nice to spend some time with my dad too. It's hard to talk to him during the week because he's always so wiped out from work. We got to eat at Denny's and we both made fun of Katniss int he Hunger Games (he's on the second book). So I was happy about that.
I'm glad that you got time to visit your grandpa and spend time with your dad. I'm glad you guys can read the same series and discuss the characters and stuff. I'm slightly jealous. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, you should post a picture of that statue. It sounds so interesting!
