Today was my first day on the job! It was surprisingly not that busy. The creative director wasn't there (because he was at a meeting today), but he will be tomorrow, so I can really get involved in creative work then. I learned all the boring stuff like answering phones, making coffee, mailing stuff, etc. But I also got to look at the creative brief and research on Branson, an account they are trying to get. I wrote about some of my experiences there, and then came up with some rough ideas for what word(s) encapsulate Branson to be used for creating ads. It was pretty awesome.
Whenever I was walking around downtown, I kept on thinking - now I've made the big time! I'm really just an intern, but walking around with other people all business-y made me feel like I'd arrived.... to the rest of my life. Weird. Also, downtown is super cool. The Arch is like next door to the building I work in and the Old Courthouse and Keiner Plaza are a block away - very swank. I just hope they hire me after 3 months.

Testing, testing
As I sit here I realize that I hate being home and need to find a job to fill the time OUTSIDE of Winston Salem, NC. Yesterday I had to pull over because a pick up full of hoses flipped over. HOSES. My CAPS is not broken, I just enjoy emphasis.

News!
Just to keep you all up-to-date: I had 3 interviews this week and I've gotten an internship for the summer!! It's at W***** Ad Agency; they're pretty cool they do the St. Louis Cardinals (the baseball team- big $$), Bass Pro Shops, and others. Right now they really need a receptionist, so I'll have to do some of those duties, but I will have a chance to get involved in copy writing for their work! It's exactly what I want to do, so I'm excited. It's not paid, but I did get a small stipend for gas and parking. It could also turn into a full-time, paid position at the end of the summer! Needless to say I'm super excited!
Also, kind of hilariously, after I accepted this position, one of the other places that I interviewed (called tS****.. a super small search, social media marketing firm) emailed me and said I got their internship. I had to call them today and tell them, someone already snapped my talents up! Ok, my parents forcefully suggested I call instead of emailing her back, but it wasn't as awkward as I was expecting. The other place I interviewed still hasn't called me back though. It was another search engine optimization place called G** M Search, I liked it the least, so maybe I didn't get that one anyway. During the G****M interview though, the HR guy I was talking to started preparing me to talk to the CEO, who may or may not have been a little crazy... he seemed like a Steve Jobs kinda guy, very techie, revered for his knowledge, etc. He tried to really grill me during the interview, but I think I held my own well enough.
Anyway, this was probably much more detail than any of you wanted, so I'll leave it there... but I'm a little surprised I found something this fast. I was expecting to have to send out another round of pleas to companies. But I guess since its unpaid, it's more like a 3 month interview... we'll see how it goes, and if I like what I thought I would in the ad world.

Not Something Creative, Sorry
Does anyone have a picture of five of us? I've been looking through people's fb pictures (because I'm an unemployed creeper) and I can't even find a picture of just the four of us girls. Even when we were all in St. Louis that weekend. I think this is due to a certain someone's camera shy qualities (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE), but I really want one. The only other picture of most of us I can find is the one of a bunch of us on the jungle gym which doesn't have Ada in it because she was in China and, unfortunately, has the L-word in it. Also Bean (how do you spell her name?)
Does anyone have a picture of the five of us?

Upon a Gust
Spread
like leaves
on the wind
Flying
farther apart
now flying faster
We
hurtle towards
the future now
Without
each other
by our sides
But
always in
our hearts and minds
I
will carry
you with me
We
will fly
on this wind

Commencement
Out of an ending always comes a new beginning.
As we move from college into our respective new lives, I think we can all agree that we want to keep in touch and keep writing. We've had a great four years and created friendships that we can carry with us throughout our lives. This blog is one way for us to do so.
Post anything related to writing, reading, creative experiences, book suggestions, Jedi advice....
(I'm so excited for this!)
I less-than-three you all!
