Okay, so I started writing a cross fic. Yes I am still at work. Here is the summary:
When the Doctor is sent a distress call from Warth 2011 he never thought he would be entrenched in a massive war between wizards, wolves and vampires. On one side is Edward Cullen and his wife Bella and new vampire Draco Malfoy, the neutral grounds belonging to the high wizard Dumbledore, while the wolves Jacob and Harry Potter on the other side. Unfortunately for all involved, true love conquers all.
Yes it is lame, but thats the point.

Ask and ye shall recieve: Sick
As a response to asking for more when I wrote the original, and in homage to the impending final movie (which I am so excited about!), here's another Malfoy sketch. This is immediately following my previous sketch: Shiver.
Sick
Childhood
Everyone needs to read this article, because it brings up the great point that not only is there a need for characters to achieve the inevitable idea of 'growing up,' but also that we need more literature about it. I will be seeing the new Winnie the Pooh movie, but I will probably cry like I did during the Search for Christopher Robin, because I'll be like "It's school and he's never coming back!!!"

I Know I Just Posted
Deal with it. The last post was a serious one and this one is less serious. I have two things that I was thinking about for POW.
1. I think we should all write Harry Potter fanfiction in honor of the last movie. I know Cylon probably wouldn't be as in to this idea, but I think you know a thing or two about Harry Potter fanfiction with the gay Malfoy as a werewolf and Harry as a vampire fiction you read for the institute last year. I encourage you to go off that.
2. We should have t-shirts. I'm sure we could design and order them easy enough. I had an idea for the slogan could be "Because the pen is mightier then the lightsaber" or "pen>lightsaber>sword" but I'm totally open to other ideas.
Thoughts?
Yesterday/My Grandpa
As you guys probably remember, my grandpa is moving from his assisted living home (Heatherwood) to a nursing home called Dove. Yesterday, me and my dad drove up to Eau Claire to take some stuff from his apartment (since he has less space in dove) and to help my uncle move some stuff. We also visited my grandpa while we were there.
It was nice to see my grandpa. He seems better and less depressed about going to Dove, though he still gets confused. He knew who I was when I walked in, but during the conversation he kept thinking that I lived in Green Bay at some point. (He did that last time too, oh well.) Still, it was good to see him. He always squeezes my hand and goes, "You're a dear, dear girl." Which makes me feel happy.
We took a desk, a table, a few chairs, and a dresser back with us to Appleton in addition to a load of books and some other knick-knacks and office supplies he doesn't need anymore.
My grandpa had a bunch of random sculptures too, so I took this four inch tall statue of this woman who is hold a snake in either hand and has her breasts exposed. Before you think I'm some kind of pervert, it's actually a cast of this fertility symbol I remember learning about in art history back in high school. It's from the islands around Greece before Greece really rose to power. So that's cool.
It was nice to spend some time with my dad too. It's hard to talk to him during the week because he's always so wiped out from work. We got to eat at Denny's and we both made fun of Katniss int he Hunger Games (he's on the second book). So I was happy about that.

This is what the end of the world looks like
The 'Reinvention' of Literature
What what what the fuck. I'm sorry. But there's some guy making video games out of classic literature like Wuthering Heights and Crime and Punishment. Not that this is so inherently bad, but it's meant to take the Kindle and similar bisnatch to "the next level".
The guy says the new ways to consume literature is structured just like a regular book with words and pages and such. But this won't get non-readers into the new e-reader medium. We have to make a video game/ movie out of it.
This is a solution? What is happening?
I'm imagining cut scenes and dialogue boxes to replace normal text and imagined scenes. Are we really becoming this unimaginative? Are we becoming this lazy as a society that we can't sit down and read a book?
I'm not expecting people who just don't like reading to pick up War and Peace, but come on people. Let's try something that will not continue to shorten our attention spans to that of a tetse fly. There are magazines and graphic novels and picture books and less literary topics (dare I say it? *cough* Twilight) to ease people into the world of proper reading.
Maybe this is a better question: why would people not want to read anymore? Are automatic information downloads really going to be that much more fun than escaping to another world by way of words and your imagination?
